  • Lab 2a: Read a number, add 1 and output the answer - run via JCL and TSO

Feb 12: Working with Datasets

  • Reading: Murach Ch 12 & 13; Z/OS Book – ch 5 (sections 5.1 - 5.6 & 5.9-5.11)
  • Lab 2b: Read a seqential data set (account number, balance), subtract 10 from balance and create new sequential data set

Feb 19: Exam + VSAM Datasets

  • Reading: Murach CH 14
  • Lab 2c: Read a seqential data set (account number, balance) create a VSAM dataset with account number as a key

Feb 26: SDLC & Application Architecture

  • Reading: Z/OS Basics – CH 1 & CH8
  • Lab 2d: Sort a sequential dataset (which contains an account number and balance) to merge with (add to) a VSAM dataset - this is an extra credit assignment due March 11.
